Our History & Impact
RESTORING LAND & LIVES SINCE 2000
From a single seed to a nationwide movement 25 years of restoring land and lives.
Our Story
For more than 25 years, Greener Ethiopia has been at the heart of sustainable rural development, driven by the belief that restoring the land means restoring life. Founded by Bedru Sultan, the organization began with a small group of visionaries planting trees on eroded hillsides. Over time, it has grown into a respected national initiative dedicated to reforestation, community empowerment, and long-term environmental stewardship.
While trees have been central to our journey, we’ve learned that true transformation comes through people especially those who serve Ethiopia’s rural communities. Teachers, agricultural experts, health professionals, and civil servants form the backbone of local development. Too often, they are under-supported and overburdened. At Greener Ethiopia, we believe in recognizing, empowering, and standing beside them.
This belief inspired one of our proudest initiatives, “Serving the Service Providers,” which calls upon all sectors government, civic, religious, and private to uplift and support those who dedicate their lives to others.
